Handmade all the way

Making your own crafts is now seen by pupils as “cool” according to school teachers.
Britain has got back into art and crafts due to popular television shows like Kirstie‟s Handmade Britain, which has shown the presenter attempt to make paper crafts for a competition.

A new twist

Crafts have always been part of a structured school art program but there are new twists. There are now some great tools to use to make your craft. Glue guns now have glue sticks in many different colours and you can now buy glitter glue for your glue gun.
There are glue guns that have a lower temperature so they are safe for pupils to use and you can buy glue sticks that are suitable for wood and metal. Perfect for a resistant materials class!

Crafts = Cool

The Guardian newspaper featured an article on crafts recently and revealed even the “cool kids‟ are signing up to school craft clubs. One teacher stated: “I was surprised with the ones that signed up. It has become a cool thing to do.”

It certainly seems that making your own crafts has become very popular and more school kids are keen to get involved. Crafts are cool for schools!
